Legaspi City, November 1, 2009: Officers and Members of the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) – Bulan Chapter, an organization of out-of-school-youths, participated in the Regional Youth Congress held in Legaspi City from October 28-29, 2009. The theme of the Congress was “ Pag-ibayuhin ang kakayahan ng mga Kabataan sa pagtugon ng mga mithiin sa makabagong panahon”. Mayor Helen C. De Castro and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of Bulan helped and assisted the group to be able to attend said assembly. The congress was aimed at helping the out-of-school youths from all over the region to be able to enhance their skills and capacities despite their being out of school. Part of the agenda was a lecture on drug abuse prevention.
Present during the opening program were Mayor Noel Rosal of Legaspi City, Director Remia Tapispisan of the DSWD Regional Office, and Director Apolonio MAleniza of the National Youth Commission.
The Bulan delegation also participated in the Search for Mr. and Ms. PAG-ASA Youth Association of the Philippines. They also hiked to Linon Hills where they had a tree-planting activity, where they were also introduced to discussions on Climate Change and Alternative Learning Systems.
In the election for the PYAP Regional Federation Officers, Mr. Jonell Gepulle, president of the Bulan Chapter, was elected as the PIO for the region.
