Bulan , Sorsogon, November 11, 2009: The Sorsogon State College-Bulan Campus Administrative Council, through Campus Director Oscar Carinola, called to a convention all the various stakeholders as it renders this schoolyear’s Mid-year Report on Plans and Accomplishment today at the SSC Social Hall. This rendering of the midyear report is part of the protocol on transparency and accountability by the officers of the state college. It was attended by the school administration, the faculty members, the students, parents and the alumni organization members.
Mayor Helen C. De Castro, together with the barangay officials of Zone 8, where the SSC is located, was also invited to attend this conference. The Mayor expressed her gratitude to the administration for the invitation, since this is her very first attendance in such forum, and said that collaboration and a harmonious relationship by the SSC especially with the LGU is a very vital factor in the success of its programs. She announced the various efforts of the LGU in helping the school and the students, foremost among these is the educational assistance of the LGU to some 188 students. She also thanked the school authorities for the various partnerships entered into by the school and the LGU in the areas of student capacitation trainings, TESDA, SPES and many others. She said she is, after listening to the administrative report, committing herself to assist the school pursue its objective to realize quality education. Also present during the conference was Dr. Antonio Fuentes, President of the Sorsogon State College.
The Sorsogon State College-Bulan Campus forms one of the campuses of the Sorsogon State College.Among the other campuses are the main campus in Sorsogon, the SITE, the Castilla School of Agriculture and the Magallanes School of Fisheries. Bulan Campus offers Industrial Management and Information Technology courses. It also offers commerce, accountancy, education and liberal arts courses. It is due to open its Bachelor of Science in Education, Major in Math and English next year. A master’s degree in Public Administration has been going on for more than five years now. Two of its graduate already passed the Accountancy Board Examinations, one of the most difficult board examinations in the country. It has presently an enrollment of 1,360 students.
